In celebration of Simon & Garfunkel's enduring appeal, musicianship, and masterful song- crafting abilities, this new 3CD set In celebration of Simon & Garfunkel's enduring appeal, musicianship, and masterful song-crafting abilities, this new 3CD set compiles previously unavailable live recordings from across the duo's seasoned career from when both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were at their most potent.
DISC ONE features a host of sessions recorded for the BBC from 1965-1970, spanning the period during which Simon & Garfunkel became a breakout success. Following the instant success of Paul Simon's solo demos on U.K. radio, Paul Simon was invited to record live material for BBC Radio with Art in tow. Those rarely heard broadcast performances from early in the duo's career are available for all to hear on this disc.
DISC TWO includes the pair's legendary 1970 show at The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on 2nd May. Despite the emerging cracks in Simon & Garfunkel's personal relationship, the duo put on a sensational show just a few months after the release of their seminal masterpiece, Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970). Playing only a handful of shows that year as a result of the increasing tensions between the two, the performance at The Concertgebouw remains a rare artefact from the era when Simon & Garfunkel were at the height of their success.
DISC THREE concludes the set with a live recording of Simon & Garfunkel's Crst ever show in Japan at Osaka Stadium, 5th May 1982. Having reunited for a free concert in Central Park the year prior that drew over 500,000 fans, a renewed interest in the duo emerged and Simon & Garfunkel put their diEerences aside to embark on a world tour. Visting Japan for the Crst time, the pair drew huge crowds during their 5-night run across Osaka and Tokyo, with their opening night proving to be an especially memorable experience. Presented here in its entirety, the legendary show Simon & Garfunkel performed that night to a hugely receptive and respectful audience is now available for all to enjoy.
