Born in Wels (Upper Austria) on August 5, 1918, the composer left a large body of work embracing almost all genres and running to almost 600 titles. Josef Friedrich Doppelbauer is now numbered among the most important Austrian composers of the 20th century, and his organ and choral works form an integral part of the international repertoire.
This recording is a World Premiere Recording in a recording with Anna Adamik (piano) and Martin Merker (cello). The recording includes the important works of Josef Friedrich Doppelbauer in the violoncello and piano.
"…Anna Adamik-her performance is actually excellent here and throughout this recital. … Cellist Martin Merker plays it very well, with a wonderful depth of tone. The program closes with the brief (2:03) Invention for Piano. It is an undated work that explores a 12-note theme, and is pretty much unmemorable. I found the recorded sound to be splendid and all of the performances good. I just wish the quality of the music matched the performances and sonics." Fanfare
