Rubinstein, Arthur (1887-1982), American pianist, best known as an interpreter of the romantic composers, especially of Frédéric Chopin. He was born in Lódz, Poland, and educated in Warsaw and Berlin. He made his professional debut as a child in 1901, appearing with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by his teacher, the famed Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim.
."When we listen to Rubinstein at his finest, we come in contact with that rarest of rarities - a healthy, sanguine, affirmative genius. On disc, as it was in person, the playing is full-hearted and honest, without distortion or neurotic excess. Melodies, textures and ideas well over from the piano and flow from heart to heart." - Washington Post
