The Band of the Coldstream Guards, formed by the Duke of York over two centuries ago, has a recorded catalogue over 125 years old. The earliest recordings in the BMMA, heard in this series, date from 1902; later recordings were broadcast on the air during World War II. Volumes 1 through 15 were recorded under the baton of Lieutenant Colonel John Mackenzie Rogan, who became bandmaster in 1896, the only soldier musician appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in history.

The British Military Music Archive is a collection of historic recordings of the Bands of the Brigade of Guards. Recovered from 78 RPM records on shellac and vinyl, these rare recordings have been digitally restored and remastered by Metropolis Mastering, one of the world's premiere mastering houses, minimizing hiss and crackle brought on by primitive technology and old age. These are the first 15 albums of a planned 29 volume series that will cover the entirety of the recordings preserved in the Coldstream Guards' regimental archives, more than 30 hours of music practically unheard and unavailable for decades.
