For the follow-up to his previous star-studded album, Use Me (2011), which featured Levon Helm, John Hiatt, Dr. John, Los Lobos, and many others, David Bromberg decided to use his own road band augmented by members of the late Levon Helm's recording and touring group, including Larry Campbell on additional guitars. There are also guest appearances by John Sebastian on harmonica and John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) on banjo.
Recorded at Helm's studio in Woodstock, NY, Only Slightly Crazy is a return to David's genre-bending albums of the '70s and '80s, where blues, bluegrass, gospel, folk, Irish fiddle tunes, pop and English drinking songs happily coexist.
