Tony Bennett
Duets II (2LP)

[ Music On Vinyl / 2 LP ]

Release Date: Thursday 22 September 2011

In a 1965 interview with LIFE, Frank Sinatra said: "For my money, Tony Bennett is the best singer in the business. He excites me when I watch him. He moves me. He's the singer who gets across what the composer has in mind, and probably a little more." And for the past sixty-odd years, Tony has been doing exactly that. With 15 Grammy Awards and a multitude of Gold and Platinum status recordings under his arm, this man sure knows how to work those pipes.

Duets II is another collection of American Songbook standards performed in the best of ways.It includes collaborations with the best voices of music: Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Norah Jones and K.D. Lang grace the recording booth with this legendary singer.

But it is the tragic and premature passing of Amy Winehouse that makes this album truly special; her appearance on the duet "Body And Soul" is the last known recording of the British songbird, and it is a truly heartrending version of the 1930 jazz classic. If this isn't Grammy material, we don't know what is!
