Yvonne Kenny's reputation as a dazzling interpreter of works by Strauss was forged through her interpretations of Strauss' operatic heroines. As a young soprano making her career at the Royal Opera, she sang the role of Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, before making the Marschallin (in the same opera) the signature role of her later career.
