'Little Joy' is the sound of a band using the fewest tools to create the greatest range of possibilities. It's a record both expansive and minimalist, a compressed expression of vast emotions.

My Disco are a Melbourne based trio and 'Little Joy', their third album, is the sound of a band using the fewest tools to create the greatest range of possibilities. It's a record both expansive and minimalist, a compressed expression of vast emotions. The bare bones of a drumbeat, a rumbling bass, one repeated phrase and some bursts of feedback add up to a wholly compelling sound.

The group tracked the album with Steve Albini (the Chicago engineer / producer famous for his stripped back work for everyone from Nirvana to Garbage to Joanna Newsom), but then changed direction. They returned to Australia to mix the album with Sydney veteran Scott Horscroft, whose resume includes the likes of Silverchair and The Presets.

The results speak for themselves and 'Little Joy' should appeal to fans of PVT, Battles and other bands of that ilk.
