"Simon Gomez's talents are shaped by many influences: a New Zealander but with Portugese, Maori and English descent; an early upbringing on Stewart Island where he gained his love of boats and the food of the sea; and then his professional career in music including working with international artists like Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones of the Monkees, Ringo Starr, The Three Degrees and Eddie Calvert. And add to that playing at the pre-wedding party for the second nuptials of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.

'Maybe Elsewhere' features nine original songs and three specially chosen covers. You can smell the salt on your nostrils when you listen to "Old Men of The Sea" and how we would all love to be at "The Island Singles Ball". Then there's "I'll Tag Along", a brilliantly executed version of the Gordon Lightfoot original and my news instincts were heightened in the pointed, "Broken". But here is an entire series of tracks to savour. Simon Gomez, a genuine New Zealand voice with something to say."
