Under the Radar

'Under the Radar' is the follow-up to Daniel Powter's Gold selling, self titled debut album, which spawned the hugely successful singles "Bad Day" and "Free Loop". In New Zealand, the album peaked at #6 and spent 9 weeks in the Top 40 Albums Chart (3 of those in the Top 10). Daniel Powter has sold over 2.7million copies world-wide. 'Under the Radar' is produced by Linda Perry (who has also written and produced for Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and P!nk)

"Best of Me" sets the tone immediately: Powter reckons, "It's basically saying, 'Take me for who I am or leave me for who I am, but this is the best of me, … That was the first song we recorded and it opened the door to me getting over myself. Once we got that out of the way, things started to flow and everything became much easier." Other album highlights include the first single "Next Plane Home", "Whole World Around" and "Am I Still The One?" (Linda Perry makes a very rare vocal appearance on this track). Through it all, the music affirms Powter's love for classic pop songwriting, complete with unforgettable melodies and anthemic choruses. It also expands his previously piano-driven sonic palette by blending in chunky guitars, electronic flourishes, and sweeping strings.
