Nine Inch Nails fans will not want to miss 'The Slip' - released here as a double-disc package containing the CD, along with a bonus DVD; featuring live performances from the band's rehearsals for its upcoming summer tour and a glimpse into the NIN recording process.

'The Slip' is a strictly limited edition release and comes as a deluxe, numbered U.S. import in a 6-panel digi-pak, with a 24 page-accompanying booklet and a sticker pack with three exclusive designs.

After a month of songwriting, 'The Slip' was performed & recorded in just three weeks of studio time at Trent Reznor's home studio. Once again, Trent is joined by live band members Josh Freese on drums; Robert Finck (who returns after a period as Slash's replacement in Guns 'n' Roses) on guitar; and longtime keyboardist Alessandro Cortini. The album was produced by Atticus Ross and mixed by Alan Moulder.

'The Slip' perfectly demonstrates Trent's unique ability to shift from raging industrial rock numbers to ballads and / or ambient instrumental tracks, but unlike his previous album 'Ghosts I-IV', vocals make a welcome return to Trent's repertoire on the bulk of this new album. He is without a doubt on his best form here since 'The Downward Spiral' and this release clearly indexes many of his most appealing qualities as a songwriter, vocalist and album sequencer.

NIN became the most influential industrial rock act of the '90s by taking the structural elements of alt-rock (lyrical focus + melodic sound) and applying them to the aggressive mechanical sounds of the genre. Brooding frontman, Trent effectively humanised the genre, cutting a cult-like figure and appealing to the angst of listeners who were at the time more interested in Nirvana than Ministry.

Almost 20 years after 'Pretty Hate Machine' and NIN's still angry. And it works. Trent has produced here a recording that is classic Nine Inch Nails; 'The Slip' roars against the establishment ("Letting You" is a fierce judgment on the "War on Terror"); life; conformity and, of course, Trent's own personal demons. "Demon Seed" builds from an intricate electronic drumbeat to incorporate orchestral elements through a haze of digital fuzz; "now I know exactly what I am… There is a seed inside of me". The driving single, "Discipline" brings all these elements together, the traditional instrumentation & the electronic, the angst + the vulnerability, and asks "Am I still tough enough?".

For listeners who like their rock fierce, loud and well constructed, 'The Slip' proves the answer to be a resounding YES!
