The selection presented here showcases the scintillating piano style of Cavallaro accompanied by his discrete rhythm. If it reminds you of the Cocktail Bar in your favourite hotel, well and good, or perhaps of the quietly performed pianistics accompanying a memorable dinner party in some elegant dining room. They might be reminiscent of what Jack Strachey and Harry Link wrote in their song "These Foolish Things" when they referred to the tinkling piano in the next apartment. But, of course, there can be nothing foolish about Carmen Cavallaro's piano! The tunes span a period from who knows when ("Santa Lucia") but more positively 1880's "Funiculi Funicula", written by Luigi Denza to celebrate the opening of Naples' funicular railway, to the magical compositions of Rodgers and Hammerstein for their 1949 Broadway musical "South Pacific".The melodies of Broadway are well represented by "Alone Together" and "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
