Rosette [highest rating] - Penguin Stereo Guide
"Ravel wrote has quartet, his first important piece of chamber music, in 1903 and dedicated it to Gabriel Fauré. 20 years later Fauré wrote his first and only string quartet, and it turned out to be his very last piece. The Ad Libitum is the resident quartet of the Moldova Philharmonic in Iasi, Romania. Their playing is beautiful. I am perfectly at peace listening to their Ravel, and while I am listening, I imagine no other Ravel quartet recording could possibly be this good."
