Beach House: beatific Balearic grooves, lusty Latin flavours, searing sunshine vocals, irresistible rhythms - essentially this is pure, soulful summer vibes on two CDs!
'Beach House 2006' was one hard act to follow but somehow this album raises the bar yet again and delivers sun-kissed sexy house like only Hed Kandi knows how.
Disc One starts with the daddy of sundrenched house himself, Miguel Migs, "So Far" is taken from his latest album on Om Records, and it sets the tone perfectly. Hot Chip then make their inaugural HK appearance with "Colours" which gets a re-working from house hero Fred Falke. No HK album would be complete without Ashley Beedle providing a cameo and he's here with Ricardo Marreno & Time's" Feel Like Making Love" -– once you hear it you will! Next up is Kandi's own in-house signing, Ron Gelfer's "Your Beat Sounds Like", getting a Latin twist by Rasmus Faber. This disc continues with some familiar names like MJ Cole, Roachford, MYNC, Chris Lake…
The second disc commences with another Miguel Migs track, a collaboration with Lisa Shaw, and we continue in a more up vibe with the Andy Caldwell remix of "Cloud's Turning"; then into a brand new track, "It's Gonna Happen" from the wonderful new Hed Kandi discovery, the talented Miss Maxine Hardcastle. Hed Kandi DJ and producer, Wez Clarke, takes the cool remix credit under his Wesley Clarke monicker and the original was produced by somebody very, very famous…. It's good to have our old friend Eric Kupper back on a Hed Kandi album with his remix of Mayu's "Stretch My Arms". Physics have produced some excellent Beach House tracks over the years and "Viva Amore" has to be one of the best. If the Glamour Remix of "Batacuda" is a perfect specimen in terms of sexy vocal Beach House, then the S.U.M.O Re-bounce of Dalminjo's "Despacito", which features the voice of Kandi favourite, Malena, has to be the best example of dreamy Latin Beach House. It's very funky to have Faze Action back with a Jerome Sydenham and Tiger Stripes remix of Robin and Simon Lee's string-laden classic "In The Tree"s. Over the last year of so, HK has developed a penchant for slightly more electronic sounds and this edition of Beach House wouldn't be complete without a dose of what might best be summed up as Beach Electro. Remember Eurodans from last year? Well, Chateau Flight's "Baltringue" is equally… intriguing!
