Renouncement is the long awaited follow up to Christian Forshaw's debut album Sanctuary.

Renouncement contains more spellbinding arrangements of hymns with soaring saxophone solos and haunting soundscapes with the intimate and haunting vocals of soprano Grace Davidson (The Sixteen and Monteverdi Choir). The tracks include Forshaw's setting of Alice Meynell's sonnet Renouncement and the Songs of Sadness and Piety by Gary Carpenter, winner of the 2006 British Composer Award chamber category, who adds a colourful edge to the album.

Christian Forshaw is a diverse musician who works in many different musical worlds. Born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire he moved to London in 1991 to study with John Harle at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He graduated in 1995 with a First Class Degree and a Distinction for his finals.

In February 2002 Christian was the featured soloist with the (BT) Scottish Ensemble giving a series of critically acclaimed performances of Richard Rodney Bennett's Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Strings. Later that year he was soloist with the London Sinfonietta giving the London premiere of Aquas Liberas by Pedro Rebelo and in March 2003 was joint soloist with John Harle in Fatres by Philip Glass with the Guildhall Strings.

He plays Soprano Saxophone with the Delta Saxophone Quartet and also plays regularly with orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the London Sinfonietta, the Philharmonia, CBSO and the Britten Sinfonia.

Christian is currently Professor of Saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London.
