Barry Tuckwell is widely considered to be one of the world's pre-eminent musicians. This disc features five contrasting works for horn and piano

- from the influence of Parisian salons in Moscheles Thème varié and Duo , to the 20 th century harmony of the two sonatas by Hindemith, finishing up with the rarely heard Sonata Op. 178 by Rheinberger. This recording was made shortly after Barry Tuckwell's farewell concerts with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in January 1997.
