Few artists are regarded with as much affection in the musical world as the cellist Jacqueline du Pre. Her colourful life, tragically early death, supreme recordings and regular press and media attention as a result of several controversial books and films about her and her personal life ensure that she is still a dominant figure today.

She was born in 1945 so she would have been 60 in 2005. To mark that occasion, EMI Classics has released The Very Best of Jacqueline du Pré, a special 3CD tribute to this great artist.

Containing her recordings of the Elgar, Dvorák, Boccherini and Haydn cello concertos as well as such famous chamber-music recordings as Saint-Saens's Swan and Bruch's Kol nidrei, this specially priced 3CD set provides a wonderful tribute to her art and to her standing as one of this country's finest ever musicians.
