Ambient pioneer, glam-rocker, hit producer, multi-media artist, technological innovator, worldbeat proponent and self-described non-musician - over the course of his long, prolific and immensely influential career, Brian Eno was all of these things and much, much more.
He forever altered the ways in which music is approached, composed, performed and perceived, and everything from punk to techno to new age bears his unmistakable influence.
At an early stage in his career, Eno came to realise that the studio was ideal in making musical pictures, creating new landscapes and time / space contexts. 'Music For Films' was initially a limited edition LP sent out in 1976 to filmmakers. The ideas further expanded into commercial releases, comprising of short instrumental compositions for the possible use as soundtracks to 'imaginary' films.
'More Music For Films' is a new compilation, combining all the tracks from the 1976 'Music For Films: The Director's Edition' promo (only 500 were issued and sent to film directors) which didn't subsequently appear on 'Music For Films', plus tracks from 'Music for Films Volume 2' (1983), which have only previously been released on the Eno boxed set 'Working Backwards 1983 - 1973'.
