The Cure

[ Geffen Records / CD ]

Release Date: Tuesday 29 June 2004

From the savage opening assault of "Lost" to the closing strains of the atmospheric, acoustic-driven "Going Nowhere," the essence of The Cure is distilled in every cut.

Through more than 25 extravagant years and with record sales exceeding 28 million worldwide, The Cure have done it all in their own unmistakable way. Free, independent, willful, unconfined, a band that has firmly established itself as a definitive force in shaping modern rock as we know it today.

Led as always by lead singer/songwriter Robert Smith, The Cure line-up since 1994 comprises Simon Gallup, Perry Bamonte, Jason Cooper and Roger O'Donnell.

One of the most revered bands of the past 25 years, they now release their first album of new music since 2000's Grammy nominated "Bloodflowers."

From the savage opening assault of "Lost" to the closing strains of the atmospheric, acoustic-driven "Going Nowhere," the essence of The Cure is distilled in every cut. The inwardly-directed rage of "The Promise," the chilly sense of impending doom in the first single, "The End Of The World," the warm guitar lines of "Before Three" - these elements each highlight different aspects of why millions of fans worldwide love The Cure. What makes this album different is that these elements have never before existed side by side on a single, utterly coherent album.

This self titled album is the band's 13th studio record and was recorded at London's Olympic Studios, with Ross Robinson (Korn, Limp Bizkit, At The Drive In) producing.
