" All the virtuosity and panache you could want."
- The Dallas Morning News
Rising star of the piano Olga Kern is heard here in a dazzling program of Rachmaninov piano transcriptions. Featured works on the disc are the Corelli Variations Op.42 and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No.2. For the Liszt, Ms Kern plays Rachmaninov's own cadenza, which was transcribed from the composer's own recording. In addition to a cornucopia of transcriptions of music by Bach, Bizet, Kreisler, Mendelssohn, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Schubert and Tchaikovsky, Ms Kern plays two of Rachmaninov's lovely miniatures, Daisies, Op.38, No.3 and Lilacs, Op.21, No.5. In performances by turns soulful and breathtaking, Ms Kern solidifies her reputation as an insightful and passionate virtuoso.
" A player of enormous brilliance and passion, one who whips audiences into frenzies."
- The Dallas Morning News
" Call it star quality - music likes Kern the way the camera liked Garbo. Kern's musicality radiates off the stage... it is joyously alive, immediately communicative, sensual."
