More dynamic and unique sounds on this, the third full-length release from Mike Patton, Buzz "King Buzzo" Osborne, Dave Lombardo and Trevor Dunn
Fantômas really need no introduction, but just in case you have forgotten who they are here's a reminder:
Mike Patton - vocals, (ex-Faith No More, Tomahawk, Mr.Bungle,) Buzz "King Buzzo" Osborne - guitar (Melvins) Dave Lombardo - percussion (Slayer) Trevor Dunn - bass (Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant, Mr. Bungle).
Their music can only be described as dynamic and unique. From subtle and precise to brutal and explosive. It is influenced equally by hardcore/death metal, cartoon music and film soundtracks.
"Delirium Cordia" is the third full-length release from Fantômas. Their 1999 self-titled debut was the first release on the now legendary Ipecac Recordings label. They followed that masterpiece up with the haunting 'Director's Cut' in 2001.
In the spring of 2003 Fantômas reconvened in Los Angeles with Grammy winning producer/engineer Husky Hoskulds (Norah Jones), to record the better part of 2 new records with distinctly different moods. 'Delirium Cordia' is the first of these 2 new recordings. The next will come out in the second half of 2004.
"Delirium Cordia" is one track clocking in at 75 minutes. It is several pieces that are weaved together to form one piece. It showcases a quiet side of Fantômas. Possibly the soundtrack to a very dark, fever-induced nightmare. The momentary ambience is followed by chaos and confusion. Needless to say, it is the sort of music you won't hear on "Top Of The Pops."
If record sales and press reaction are any indication, it seems that there are many music listening people worldwide that are looking for something unique and interesting. Fantômas's brand of uneasy listening certainly fills that need.
"Delirium Cordia" is a US Import CD packaged in a deluxe slipcase.
