'On Parole' is a compilation of the early Motorhead recordings from 1975, which were intended to be the band's debut, but were held back until 1979. This re-issue from 2000 also includes a number of BONUS, alternate takes.

'On Parole' is a compilation of the early Motorhead recording sessions from 1975, which were intended to be the band's debut album. They originally included Motorhead's first guitarist Larry Wallis (ex-Pink Fairies) and drummer Lucas Fox. However, Lucas was later replaced on all tracks (except for 'Lost Johnny'), when Phil "The Animal" Taylor joined the throng. Then, when "Fast Eddie" Clarke replaced Fox on guitar, the whole lot was re-recorded again. The results were the group's proper self-titled debut, which was issued on the Chiswick label.

The initial versions of the songs were finally issued by United Artists in 1979, but that wasn't the end of the story... In 2000 they were re-issued by EMI as this CD, which includes a number of BONUS, alternate takes - rumoured to be the the very first Motorhead studio efforts, produced by Dave Edmunds.

The material on 'No Parole' is gruff & bluesy, and totally worth checking out (especially at this price!) for anyone interested in hearing how it all began.
