These legendary recordings were made over the entire course of Solti's career with Decca (almost 50 years!) and boast some of the finest Wagnerian performances ever committed to disc.
Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg was the one Wagner opera which Solti recorded twice. Although both versions were well-received, this fully digital version, recorded in 1995 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, was Solti's favourite. The recording is based on three live performances, resulting in a lightness and clarity of texture throughout. The superb cast includes José Van Dam as Hans Sachs, Ben Heppner as Walther and Karita Mattila as Eva.
Sir Georg Solti, who would have been 90 years old this year, remains particularly associated with the operas of Richard Wagner.

Each opera is packaged in a slipcase with full libretto and translations.
